From Clark to Wagga Wagga: Learning, Growth, and Partnership

Some work trips are simple. You fly in, do the work, take a few photos, and head home.

This one had a little more personality.

Recently, two of our Guerilla team members, Christopher and Joseph, had the chance to travel to Australia and visit our client, one of Australia’s leading tyre companies, in Wagga Wagga. What was meant to be a learning trip quickly became something more: a chance to see the work up close, strengthen a meaningful partnership, and collect a few unforgettable stories along the way.

A Warm Welcome from Day One

From the moment Christopher and Joseph arrived, the trip already felt off to a great start.

The client team welcomed them warmly, from the airport pickup to their stay at the Hydro Hotel, making sure they were comfortable and well looked after throughout the visit. More than the thoughtful arrangements, what stood out most was the way they were welcomed as people, not just as visitors.

Our client is a family-owned business, and that warmth came through clearly in how they hosted our team. As a family-owned business too, that meant a lot to us. It reflected the kind of people-first culture we value at Guerilla and made the connection feel even more genuine.

Not Every Lesson Starts at the Office

Of course, no trip is complete without at least one unexpected plot twist.

Before things could fully settle into place, one of the work laptops was flagged at immigration, which made for a tense stretch at the airport. For a while, it felt like the trip was taking a sudden turn into suspense.

Thankfully, after everything was checked, it turned out to be something completely harmless: lotion residue on the laptop before the flight. So yes, what felt like the start of an airport thriller turned out to be a reminder that travel can get dramatic for the most unexpected reasons. This time, the main character was apparently lotion.

Seeing the Work Up Close

Once that airport moment was behind them, the trip shifted into what it was really all about: learning.

For Christopher and Joseph, seeing our client’s operations up close gave them a much clearer understanding of how everything works from end to end. They also visited one of the company’s clients in the mining industry, which gave them valuable real-world context beyond the office. On top of that, the trip included seminars, workshops, and hands-on learning sessions that deepened both their technical knowledge and operational understanding.

For remote team members, that kind of firsthand exposure makes a real difference. It brings more meaning to the work and a better understanding of the bigger picture behind the support they provide every day.

More Than a Client Visit

What stood out throughout the visit was that this was never just about observing processes or attending sessions. It was also about experiencing the people, the place, and the moments in between that made the trip memorable.

It was especially encouraging to see how much our client values collaboration and the people behind the work. Their trust and appreciation for Filipino professionals, both in the office and on site, was clear throughout the visit. That kind of respect builds strong working relationships and says a lot about the partnership being built over time.

There were also conversations around future opportunities for learning and development, including possible site visits again within the next 6 to 12 months, which is something we are genuinely excited about.

And beyond the learning, there was still room for good food, great company, and even a helicopter ride, adding a few extra highlights to an already memorable trip.

The Koala Side Quest

Of course, no trip to Australia would feel complete without a little wildlife moment.

One of the lighter highlights of the visit was what the team jokingly called their “Koala hunting” adventure. Spotting a koala in the wild made the trip extra memorable, and as a bonus, they also got to see an emu, one of Australia’s most iconic animals.

It was one of those fun, unexpected moments that made the whole trip feel even more unmistakably Australian.

What the Team Had to Say

When asked about the experience, both Christopher and Joseph described it as something they will not forget anytime soon.

Christopher shared that the trip was overflowing with learning, appreciation, and gratitude. He said he was thankful to both Guerilla and our client for the opportunity and described it as a dream come true.

Joseph described the trip as an adventure, which honestly feels like the right word for it. Between the learning, the mining site visit, the food, and the overall experience, it was a meaningful mix of professional growth and personal enjoyment.

Looking Ahead

Looking back, this trip was about much more than travel.

It was about learning in a deeper way, building stronger connections, and being reminded that great partnerships are built not only through work, but also through trust, generosity, and shared experiences.

We are grateful to our client, one of Australia’s leading tyre companies, for welcoming our team so openly and for giving Christopher and Joseph the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience the work firsthand.

Trips like this do not just build knowledge. They build perspective, confidence, and connection too. And in this case, they also came with koalas, an emu, and one very unforgettable airport moment.
